Printmaking in Greece

Following my trip to New York, I spent 2 weeks making prints, drawing, and exploring Skopelos at the Skopelos Foundation for the Arts in Greece. Below are some of the prints I made.

New York Studio School Day 1-9

I have just finished Day 9 of the Drawing Marathon at the New York Studio School. Most days go from 9 am - 9pm including a long critique of the day's work. Drawings are evaluated by the Dean of the school and teacher of the course, Graham Nickson. The photo with the ladders shows the frenzy of pinning the drawings up ready for the critique.

I have been accepted into the New York Studio School's Drawing Marathon this June. The course is described as " Intellectually rigorous, physically challenging, and surprising in its stratagem for discoveries, this marathon gives the student a real understanding of the language and importance of drawing, today and in the past. The quest for form, space, and scale is a strong element. The role of drawing in painting is also explored. It is a very ambitious program pushing personal vision to an extreme."

Salon des Refuses Artist Talk

I will be doing an artist talk at the SH Ervin Gallery this Sunday the 15th May at 3pm. Julian Meagher and John Braudis will also be talking. Details can be found here

Into My Own

ONE of my wishes is that those dark trees,
So old and firm they scarcely show the breeze,
Were not, as ’twere, the merest mask of gloom,
But stretched away unto the edge of doom.


I should not be withheld but that some day
Into their vastness I should steal away,
Fearless of ever finding open land,
Or highway where the slow wheel pours the sand.


I do not see why I should e’er turn back,
Or those should not set forth upon my track
To overtake me, who should miss me here
And long to know if still I held them dear.


They would not find me changed from him they knew—

Portia Geach Memorial Award 2010

I am a finalist in the 2010 Portia Geach Memorial Award. The exhibition is on at the SH Ervin Gallery in Sydney. Exhibition runs until the 7th of November- please go and have a look!
